I pen the HFNs & HEAs of headstrong women, flawed men and their sassy yet endearing sidekicks. Purple Ink bi-weekly newsletter will give you behind-the-scenes sneak peeks, access to exclusive material and first dibs on big announcements.
When I have an ARC ready to go, I email people on my ARC Team a download link. This is managed via either StoryOrigin or BookSirens. I include the blurb and a copy of the cover in the email, as well as critical dates to post the review (mainly, book launch date). ARC copies will be available 2 to 6 weeks before the book is published and reviews are expected 3 to 7 days after publication.
I know, I know it’s not your first rodeo (or is it?) In any case, here are a few things to remember, so we're on the same page (see what I did here :D).
Since I write a bit of everything, the new book might not be something you’ll enjoy reading. The ARC page includes a link to a sample. Start small.
Only leave a review IF YOU WANT TO. If you do leave one, please be honest. Wherever you like the book (be still my heart) or didn’t (it happens), remember that authors are fragile creatures… Being mean is as unnecessary as it is unhelpful, and it hurts.
Please make sure you use the correct rating. It differs from one site to another.
You can't leave a review until a book is live, so if you write your review in advance, keep it somewhere safe until launch time. You’ll get reminders from the platform to post your review. Reviews should be posted in a timely manner after the public release (72h max).
It used to be the norm to mention you received the book as an ARC copy. Amazon started removing reviews which hints at it, while Goodreads doesn’t mind. Please word your review carefully.
My ARC copies are professionally edited copies. They are the final book, ready to be published, freely given. However, typos and errors are like Pokemons, it’s difficult to catch them all… If something slipped under the editing radar, please email me! I might have enough time to correct it before official launch.
When you write your review please don’t give the plot away. Simply say what you like about the book, or what you didn’t. I really hope you like it though😉
While my books are available (almost) everywhere, Amazon is still the go-to platform for most readers, so Amazon reviews are mandatory. Goodreads and Bookbub posts are also most welcome. I leave the rest to your discretion. Feel free to boast everywhere about the book, Purple Ink and this author to your heart content…
Finally, please remember that being ARC reader means I trust you with a free copy of my book and you get it before anyone else. Please don't share it around, and please, please, please, do not put it on a pirate site. It’s not fair to me, the author, and it’s not fair to people who will have to buy it. Copyright is a thing.
