Slap Shot

Slap shot : a player swings the stick back to waist or shoulder height then brings it forward fast to slap the puck in a high-speed forehand. Zdeno Chara (2025 Hockey Hall of Fame inductee) holds the record for fastest shot at 108.8 mph (NHL All-Star Game’s skills competition, 2012).

Hello Reader,

I first drafted One More Game (under a different title) fifteen years ago. Then I honestly forgot about it. It came back to me during the Milan Hockey Finale last February. More precisely, I remember about Nate and Morgan's love story while screaming at Nathan McKinnon who had just missed the open net by a yard (okay, inches, but still).

I rewrote the first chapter, added things, cut things. I changed my mind about the Frost Cup’s winner three times, renamed teams, renamed a character or three (you know me). I went as far as building a detailed spreadsheet to keep track of scores and finally! Fifteen years and a silver medal later, here it is, ready for pre-ordering.

An Enemies-to-Lovers’s dance, set in the magical period between Christmas and New Year’s Eve… It never gets old. Add a hockey tournament, well-minded (nosy) friends, and I’m a goner. Aren’t you?

I hope you are because the Purple Ink Brigade will get a special gift on Launch Day (November 5th) : two exclusive One More Game phone wallpapers. The first one (in shades of blue) is inspired by the first draft of the book. The other one reflects the official cover, with Wayne Gretzky’s most famous quote.

“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”.

I hope you’ll like them!

Happy reading,

More books for you...

Hi Reader, I took a break from One More Game and edits to celebrate my birthday earlier this week. The Vieux Dublin on Cathcart is one of my favorite places in Montreal. Before you ask, yes, the Bottom Stone took a little from it as well as other public houses I’ve visited over the years. I prefer pubs to upscale restaurants. The atmosphere is friendlier and the menus can be quite tasty, Michelin stars or not. If you've never had a Reuben poutine, you're missing out... We went for lunch so...

Hello Reader, Summer is well under way and we are all looking for some light (or dramatic) reading to enjoy. According to the chart below, I am a loyalist. My TBR can be a mile long and yet I'll go back to something I've already read, because the story "fits". Cozy mysteries, breathless adventures, fantasy, the list is endless. Two of my favorite romances to revisit include Agatha Christie's "The Man in the Brown Suit" and Nora Roberts' "Carolina Moon". What about you? What kind of reader are...
